School News

I received a phone call this week from Dallon's teacher at Early Intervention. Registration for class is on Monday, and the best news is that school will be starting much earlier than planned on Sept 17th! We are very excited and feel like it is a huge blessing for our situation. I've also been in contact with the district's autism specialist who will be coming to do a home visit on Monday as well. It seems that things are actually falling into place. We will be setting up local speech therapy, and after talking to the autism specialist, we feel that occupational therapy is not necessary at this time because school is starting in about a week.

The only bad news is that we will be missing a week of school because of our vacation--if you can consider going on a long overdue vacation a bad thing.

Thanks for all of your support and prayers!

No LNG

While we were on our way to Seaside (see the story below) we saw this sign. LNG is Liquid Natural Gas. Chris works at a LNG plant (notice he's also wearing a Williams Natural Gas tshirt), and so does his friend standing behind him in the picture. They couldn't resist it, and decided they should make this sign their own. They have some plans to make a joke out of it with a prank at work next week. The silly things that guys will do for a practical joke!

Beautiful Day at the Oregon Coast

So Chris has finished his inspection job, and was given Friday and Monday off for Labor Day. Friday morning we left for the Portland area. We stopped at the outlet mall in Troutdale for some school clothes for Dallon, then headed on to Beaverton for a quick visit with Brian and Ashley. Then we spent the night at Grandpa Charlie's and Grandma Sally's. Charlie just had surgery, but he's looking good and says his shoulder feels much better--hopefully our brief visit will help him recover soon.

Saturday morning after breakfast we headed toward the coast. We stopped in Tillamook and had ice cream, and then headed north to Seaside. We stopped and took a few pictures along the way. At Seaside, we had a nice lunch and then spent some time at the beach. It was a beautiful day, the sun was warm, but it was only around 70 degrees. The air was still and the sand is soft. But if you've ever been to the Oregon coast you know the water is COLD!! Dallon wasn't detered by the temperature of the water at all. He played in it for a good hour or so, and Chris went numb trying to keep up. Jace didn't care for the water, he only touched it out of curiosity a couple of times. Boy was he sandy! He was caked, and he just carried around a lot of sand with him for the rest of the day.

We left Seaside at about 4:00 and headed for Longview, WA to visit Grandma Ruth. She was surprised to see us, but I think she was really delighted. I'm so glad we dropped in on her, we debated whether or not to surprise her like that. We chatted for a while, and then headed on our way at about 7:00. We arrived home a little late, but we were glad for the opportunity to be out as a family and be a little spontaneous.

Today is Labor Day, and we're mostly just taking it easy for the day. Chris and Dallon are out at the store, and Jace is sleeping right now so I have some time to do some things that I enjoy--like playing with my pictures and computer.

We love you all, hope you're having a great weekend full of fun!
