One of my heros has passed...

I was very sad to learn that President Hinckley had died. He's been the prophet since I was a teenager. I will always think of his great sense of humor. He has been a great hero to me. After his wife passed away a few years ago, I was so touched by how much he missed her. I only actually saw him twice, but being even in the same room with a prophet is an amazing experience. For such a small man he made a huge contribution to the world in his 97 years. He will be missed.

SALT LAKE CITY 27 January 2008 President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97.
President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since 12 March 1995.

The Church president died at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night from causes incident to age. Members of his family were at his bedside. A successor is not expected to be formally chosen by the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles until after President Hinckley’s funeral within the next few days.

Application is in!

I finally sent off the application for Dallon's service dog last week. They will call me back in about 3 weeks to do an interview with me and determine the dollar amount we need to raise. I am going to be getting ready to apply for grants so that I can submit applications right after we get the go ahead. We'll be setting up a bank account for him, and hopefully we'll be able to raise the money in a reasonable amount of time.
We have been pretty busy. Chris has been doing shift work (7 days on 7 days off) and is back to a normal schedule today. We had been planning to try to take a trip on one of his weeks off, but that didn't really work out. We got sick with a nasty flu bug just after New Years, and it is still lingering a little in the form a bad cough in both Dallon and Jace. It seems to be getting better now although I was afraid it would develop into bronchitis. I had started working on potty training with Dallon just 3 days before he got violently sick--so we ended up putting it off yet again. I am really hoping to get him completely out of diapers before the end of the school year.
He has the vocabulary for potty training now, but he has a hard time deciphering his body signals. He doesn't seem to get hungry on a regular basis, and can go a couple of days without eating anything substantial. So knowing when he needs to go to the bathroom will be a big struggle at first. Wish us luck--we're going to need a lot of it!
Chris is tearing apart our main bathroom now. So we are down to one bathroom again. Hopefully we'll be able to get it put back together soon. It will be nice not to have those ugly late 80s fixtures anymore.
Hopefully I'll find the time to post some pictures soon. I know its been a long time, but it may be a little longer before I get around to it.
